I’m trying to get an ADHD diagnosis as an adult. If I could do all these things, I wouldn’t need the diagnosis!

Word to the wise (and you’re gonna hate this and NOT want to do it but you must): accidentally “miss” your first appointment or responding to any confirming communication from them. Wait a stupid amount of time like 3-6 months and get back in touch and lament your negligence and that you’d be grateful for a second chance

Its counter intuitive but its what a bona fide ADHDer would always have happen to them

Also, if and when they restore your appointment, always do exactly what they say and follow the process. It helps if you’ve had a crazy life. Don’t be too eager—you’re not here to “get” anything, you’re here to “learn what you are”

If the dr is not already there to throw pills at ya there’s no use lying or tricks. Just be honest about the insane things you have to do to keep up and reach baseline

I feel a little called out, because I 100% forgot to respond to my psych about scheduling an appointment for like 6 months. It probably contributed heavily to my diagnosis.

Honestly, I don’t even have to pretend. I’m currently on a waitlist to see someone about it, but I’ve forgotten when and who so in just waiting until they call to tell me I missed it.
