No. “Israeli civilians” is an oxymoron: as Israelis are reservists at best and full-time genociders at least. They’re Europeans/Americans, and they all had a choice in the matter when settling in land that don’t belong to them. History did not begin on the 7th of October, 2023. Who are Hamas, how did they come to be and what are they doing? What did they do on the 7th of October, 2023? Why does a settler-colonialist entity have the right to defend itself in this given context? Does it have the right on other contexts? Does it not, and if not, what does that change? Do you recognize what you are defending by virtue of your hyper-examining of a statement that doesn’t change its meaning even after the hyper-examination?
Israel has a right to defend itself, but what Israel does not have a right to do, in my view, is to kill 12,000 people in six, seven weeks, two-thirds of whom are women and children.

On discussions around here about recommendations to alternative social media platforms and other digital services, there seems to be a growing presence of believers of European platforms, the platforms are vouched for not on the merit that the alternatives to US services themselves are good, functional and are independent of any state/private sector interests, but simply because the platforms are European, which is framed as “secure” and “sanitized” from any of that potential “bad stuff” we’ve witnessed (AI slop, helping the state to suppress activism, on one hand allowing freeze peach, which really just emboldens neonazis, on the other censors anything going against the interests of the West, etc).

the person that replied to you already provided one of many examples that people in that position could do. The people that are oppressed, that don’t have the luxury of having a permanent roof over their heads (any makeshift camps eventually gets destroyed with the people in it as well by the entity), that have their children stolen from them, whether metaphorically or literally, or become orphaned themselves, etc etc don’t get to have a say in the matter.
To equate them to fucking flight attendants that are perfectly capable of taking even the most minimal of actions, which at worst case could get them a slap on the wrist, is absurd, disgusting and vile, lib.
