1·6 days agoNo, I think whenever it’s up to someone else, without my permission, it’s always bad.
Edit: as in I’d rather not have someone else choose when I die. That’s between me & physics or god or the universe or something that isn’t some other person.

But it also works as a comparison to our real world, where the ability to expand is restricted.

I like the “we’re broken & magic doesn’t make it better,” but I wanna fit all, or most, of the musicals into their own episodes. Though, an action-musical sequence in a The Magicians game would go hard af.

Naaaahhhh, I was a daily reader of Questionable Content like a decade ago (got married had a kid & forgot about QC), and I don’t at all agree that marrying a sentient robot in QC is like marrying an elf in a fantasy setting. Elves are people, just not human people, in those settings; both are organic & come with that dirty nasty that is reproduction. I fully recognize we can fall in love for personality or mind (which a sufficiently advanced AI could host), but biological love is different.

1·9 days agoI never did any of that stuff, but after what they have to do, I can think of few things, that you could do as soon as you got back, that would be better than a cigarette.
Nicotine is a stimulant, and it increases the levels of serotonin & epinephrine.
That’s what causing the smoking area vibe: they are all artificially being kept happy.
More quickly too, based on what I’ve read.
I was in the military, and smokers got breaks.
It does have a felt effect, but is very mild. The thing is that the body loves nicotine, and even if you’re not consciously getting high, your body is getting high. That’s why vapes were able to become popular.
The body loves it so much, the smoke stops smelling bad to you.
And finally, the fact that it smells bad & keeps people away is a GOOD thing.
I dunno what that means but it might explain your delusions.
Just because the warning is true doesn’t mean it applies to everything. That leads to blowing everything out of proportion. That was my point, that the screenshot could just as much be blowing something out of proportion.
