I also once wrote a paper about WW2 in school, and when I got into Wikipedia, someone had edited the entire page to say “Hitler won”. Nothing else.

EU is making better privacy laws, others are making worse. (yes, I know about the encryption bill in the EU, that has never been voted through. I also know about all the privacy laws that actually work here)

People want convinience. You’ll never get people to do it, unless it personally affects them. Realisticly, you can convert a few.

But most importantly. It shouldnt be that hard to have privacy. THATS the problem. People shouldnt need to do alot of things to get it.

Do something about the problem (political, legally change privacy laws) instead of every single person.

My guess is that people who would use DEX is also people who are satisfied with ChromeOS. Which is just as closed down.

Hopefully, when Android does this, they will be under same gatekeeper restrictions in the EU as Windows.

EU fines is a ladder system. First offence it can be around the 600m. Next one is % of their income worldwide (not profit).

Should they hit hard on the first offence? Maybe, but getting the first strike is not fun either with how this system works.

For sure. Their decision about OpenStreetMaps seems pretty wise.
