It works pretty well for image editing as well, at least the type I do. I’ve started using it mainly for that instead of GIMP (mainly because GIMP’s Mac version doesn’t work nearly as well as on Linux and I want to use both)
The lack of green pepper brush is a big downside though.

use gimp for over a decade to edit all manner of things, solve all manner of problems quickly and efficiently, but in public, at any given moment…

It’s simply that there are tools that work better, and it hasn’t had an update in about 12 years.
Apparently you can rice it to make it behave closer to Photoshop (shortcuts and whatnot).

I just installed Affinity Photo and Designer in Arch and they run wonderfully. Mich more useable tham GIMP
