I’m still a bit baffled it doesn’t work.

Like, the Left not doing enough SHOULD lead the right to decide “Dang, we need a message that appeals. Let’s blame the rich, and champion power over corporations!” But…instead they blame nonsensical things, promise nothing, and appeal to hatred, and get more than one vote.

That should just…never happen. That faction should be gonezo, making plenty of room for an independent party.

I call this Shadow the Hedgehog darkness. When something wants to look dark and mature from the outset, but it’s really a form of childishness. Same appearance takes effect for a lot of “dark” anime, where people are routinely betraying and causing pain, and “At its heart most of humanity just wants chaos” blah blah.

I do think there’s a lot of horrible stuff in the world, but it’s usually far more banal than anything these edgelords envision. When put face to face, people usually want to be kind to each other. But we’re not put face-to-face often enough.

Meanwhile these people in criminal courtrooms:

“What does ‘murder’ mean? If I happen to own a knife and like to toss it, but someone moves in my way when the knife comes down, am I suddenly considered a murderer? Won’t some people abuse these rules?”
